BYNOE HARBOUR CLOSURE
The Department of Defense has started a Munitions Removal exercise in Bynoe Harbour.
Anyone visiting the area should take note of the restrictions. The link explains in detail

This is a destination used by many FTO.s and recfishers alike

The NTGFIA is trying to source clarification to the exact nature of the restrictions and time frames of operations

OTHER NEWS
The interim arrangement for access to waters over Blue Mud Bay title is due to be renewed.
Discussions with the project managers indicate the interim period will be extended; this is expected at a NLC meeting 6th June.

Government representatives say, that they are very close to agreement, this being in the interest of all parties, the need to consult all of the 4000 T.O’s has been a major impediment to progress.

The government is committed to support Fishing Tour Operators the same as all recfishers, the importance of having a broad based agreement is supported at this stage by the NTGFIA

DECEMBER WHITE PAPER
The Government White Paper process is still being negotiated; there were 40 responses to the December issue, possibly the best response Fisheries have ever mustered from our Industry.
With 92 Licensees, less than 50% bothered to reply.

The Responses have been appraised and will form part of Fisheries advice to the minister, then to public comment. We will continually monitor the situation and advise.

It appears that Fisheries are backing off the Zoning issue at this stage, the NTGFIA Committee has argued very strongly against this impost to existing Charterers.
Indications are that restrictions could apply to all new licenses; we now have to wait for the public comment paper, due out this year to proceed any further

The NTGFIA position is firm and can be viewed on the website www.ntgfia.com.au

MEMBERSHIP
Notices for NTGFIA membership renewal will be sent shortly
I advise all FTOs to do this promptly; our negotiating strength is based on our representation of the industry
